A musical experiment for five modular synthesisers
A modular synthesiser is an instrument that consists of different modules and in which none of the connections necessary to make sounds are determined. This gives everyone the chance to put together their own personal instrument, to create unique and original sounds on it. The first synthesisers were created on the same principle and are now making a comeback after many years of evolution and new technology. To produce sound on the instrument the player has to create all of the connections using cables. Unfortunately, reproducing the result is almost impossible. Since there are so few modular synthesisers in Estonia, this concert – with five very different instruments on stage – is even more interesting.
Improvising on the modular synthesisers will be Ekke Västrik, Mihkel Tomberg, Roland Karlson, Taavi Kerikmäe and Toomas Savi.
